You’re expecting, Congrats! but wait don’t get overboard buying things that you are not sure what to get and what you actually really need. In todays blog I am sharing you the things not to buy and what you really need to buy that I wish someone could have told me before buying and spending lots of money for my baby. Hey! I get it we all get it you are excited, I have been there but! I don’t want you to feel and experience the ” I wish someone could have told me” but before you’re going to get your baby registry done and registered all the items you “like” because you think you need it trust me you don’t plus people will not buy all what you like so let’s straighten this out and be more realistic ok so let’s get straight to the point shall we? obviously you need changing station, mine was a gift and bought from Amazon I have learned that you really get what you pay for so, Mikayla was not even born yet the changing table is already falling apart and just this week I have decided to break it down. Imagine I only wiggled it for about three times and it already fell apart I thought to myself what if my baby went closer to this thing she could have an accident so please new moms that are expecting it is very important that you pay a little extra for the safety of your child. The crib I got it from Target it is very sturdy I even went in it multiple times to make sure that it is strong and can hold a good weight so I strongly recommend it. A swing, I had the For Moms swing as a baby shower gift, she only used it when she was new born so for me you don’t really have to spend that much of money for a swing but Mikayla slept really good on it so I guess 50/50.
The Dockatot is a good investment for only short amount of time Mikayla outgrew it pretty quick when she turned 4 months the moment she rolled she is done using her Dockatot because she wants room when she sleeps at night and she sleeps in her tummy so definitely she is a rolly polly but the company sells bigger sizes but of course it is gonna cost more so I guess I would say another 50/50 suggestion to this. The Genie is a good idea because it keeps the nursery tidy and clean and not stinky but you have to think that’s another money to buy refills so I suggest to just not be lazy and just throw the diaper in the garbage right away. A cute area Rug meeehh definitely not a good thing to buy because it will just collect dusts and you don’t really need it and plus mine is so annoying because it does not stay in its place I have to pull it all the time. Mattress, bed sheets and skirts and a mattress protection is need. Changing pad you need and changing station there are cribs now that are designed with changing station that will save you money and specially if you have small room. Baby monitor, you really don’t need it yet until when you decide to let your baby sleep in his/her own room but for me I suggest to look around and read reviews first before buying it doesn’t matter if it looks nice and all but always trust on the review there a reason why people making a review is to help us out.
Ok were done with the furnitures, lets talk about what baby needs. Swing, I have a For Moms and I like it Mikayla slept on it for hours when she was new born she loves it so much but she no longer using it now so i would recommend to get a cheap one because you really don’t need to spend that much for a swing. Bottle drying rack to dry after you wash baby’s bottle, baby bottle brush, Bottles, I bought bottles and used the Dr. brown’s in the wee hour even if I’m breast feeding I pump before I go to bed it’s just easy for me. Stroller and care seat I recommend what I have right now it is very easy to use and light weight we paid good money for it but! you get what you pay for I promise! Mikayla’s 7 months old and still in very good condition I use almost almost everyday and we took it when we went out of country so imagine the transporting to that can be a pain and thinking that it would just fall apart but it did not so definitely recommending this one. The car seat is very easy to attached on the base and detach makes your life super easy, baby clothes, ok now this one I went psycho hahahaha i bought a lot of new born clothes i wish someone could have told me on what to really buy my recommendation pls buy from 0-3 months, 3-6 and 6-12 clothes do not buy that is only for new born and 3 months and 6 months this will save you so much money. Diapers and wipes can be expensive i would suggest to throw a party for your husband ” diaper and beer party” this will help you a lot, laundry detergent for me now it is not really necessary anymore but when Mikayla was new born I only washed her clothes using the baby detergent just because you’ll never know when your baby will get rashes or allergic the our own detergent now that she is bigger 7 months I sometimes use Tide and I guess it’s safe to use for her right now I’m still using the baby detergent but I’m just gonna try and finish it up then I’l be switching to Tide. Diaper bag, let’s be honest we need a good diaper bag because it can get beat up so I have multiple but mainly I used if from target that I can easily get wipes and diapers everything on the bag has labels on it and it’s my favorite bag ever but I have a new one coming I ordered from fawn Design i wanted a cute back pack for me I need one sling and one backpack but this Fawn design can use two ways which I really like so we shall see. I have a pack n play yard I don’t really use it at all and it is so sad i have a small living room and it just takes up place I only need it for our up coming vacation trip but that’s it. Baby carrier is a must specially for traveling also you need breast pumps so I was gonna purchase my own but good thing I asked my sister in law to call your insurance because they are covered so be sure to call your insurance before spending a lot for breast pumps. bath tub you need i have the folding one and it works fine also you need bath soaps and diaper rash cream and depends on you if you want your baby to sleep with you in the same room so you need a bassinet I used mine till she was 6 months and she sleeps perfectly fine on it. For me I didn’t need a bottle warmer I never even used the microwave to heat up her milk what I did is an old fashion way I have a thermos and that’s how I heat it up I didn’t bought baby food making machine I have a blender and it works perfectly fine and does the job well.
You don’t need much of a breast milk storage bag in one box I think theres like 60ct but if you are making lot’s of milk and are determined then it’s up to you. You need a high chair or a Bumbo and eating set like bowls and utensils do not include toys on our registry your kid will get a lot of toys on his/hers first birthday basically try to register on what you really need for the first year so you’ll save money also ask a lot of moms what are their opinion and ideas and try to base on that. What I do is when I go to baby stores and I see parents that have toddlers I asked them just about anything it does really help a lot and I am pretty sure they will be glad to help you out. Just remember though everything is based on my experienced and opinion I have attached a PDF file for you to see what I registered and also a check lists for you let me know if you have a question mama! I am happy to help!
