Hi guys, how is everybody doing? I hope you guys are doing good. My topic today is about what I packed for my international trip the first time with an infant. Every parents knows that it can be overwhelmed when it comes to packing specially you have never done it before it can be frustrating very frustrating, I have scoured all over the internet Youtube and Blogs but when we took our first trip none of those were giving you the complete details.
So let’s get to the point, When you purchased a plane ticket you want to request for a baby bassinet for your baby trust me on this one we had 15hours flight going and back that’s right! seating on a plane the whole entire 15 hours you would go insane but a baby bassinet would make your life more easier it would be nice to every once in a while for your arms to be baby free.
Things I packed, for carry on I brought 2 big Diaper bags diaper bags number 1(over bin bag). 2 extra pack of wipes, at least 15 extra diapers, one formula(you can bring as much as you want breast milk or formula just tell the TSA officer right away that you have it in the bag)at least 5 clean feeding bottles because everybody knows for international flight the restrooms can get pretty gross so you do not want to rinse your feeding bottle with all the germs(if you are a germaphobe like me) and plus this will save your time,at least 5 outfits warm and cool clothes you have to consider the weather where you came from and where you heading to and planes can be chili inside, 1 roll of diaper bag dispenser refills, at least 2 extra pacifiers, socks and 3 burps clothes also a toy for active infants my baby was 9 weeks old so we didn’t have to brought toys. Carry on number 2 (under the east bag), at least 10 diapers, 1 pacifier, 1 roll of diaper bag dispenser refills, pre-packed formula 5, wipes, changing pad, disposable changing pad, at least 2 extra outfit, diaper rash cream, mask (in case next to you is sick!) 2 burps clothes, hand sanitizer wipes a must! specially when toys or pacifier or your seat can get dirty so a wipes can save your time and pre made formula.
Check in luggage, my baby had a medium check in luggage all for her stuff what I packed 1 box of diaper, traveling tub, lots of outfits, burp clothes, blanket, feeding utensils for infants 6 months and above we didn’t had to bring because our baby was 9 weeks old, travel size dishwashing liquid for washing baby bottle in the hotel, toys for infants 6 months and above we didn’t have t o pack, 1 pack of wipes, 1 bath towel, 1 washcloth, vitamin D supplements, bath soap, breast pump if your’e breast feeding i would suggest to bring an outlet converter when traveling overseas my breast pump broke and got burnt because I just assumed everything are the same, and thermometer and Tylenol just in case and bottle brush.
I also suggest of buying a bag protector for your car seat and have it checked in because it can be a pain if your’e going to take it with you, also a bag protector for your stroller too, I also suggest to buy a baby carrier so you will wear your baby during traveling specially at the airport, I also suggest to gate check the stroller(must be an umbrella type) also no need to bring the car seat base because our car seat can strap in through the seat belt it will make your life and travel much more easier and memorable, not only that but you can put all your baby stuff on top of the stroller lastly I would suggest to get a TSA pre check this will save your time and you can be able to relax and enjoy.
The day of your travel wear your baby I wore my baby the whole time it was so easy, upon checking in we check in our 1 big luggage and 1 medium luggage and our car seat I told the airline employee that I will gate check the stroller you must tell them this so that they will put a tag on your stroller so it will not get lost when transporting, all checked in we got our tickets and passport went in line to TSA pre check be well prepared I would suggest putting all of the milk, pre made milk all in one big zip lock therefore you do not have to take it out one by one this saves time, put all the liquid, milk formula in one tray so TSA will check it, luckily were in TSA we do not have to take off our shoes so it is really golden having that TSA approved, have all your stuff in the x-ray including the stroller do not remove your baby in her carrier if they do have a problem with it ask them that you want to talk to the manager it is your right as a mom and I’m not speaking out for myself but the lady officer said that too(only works in the US).
After getting the formula and liquids screened your’e good to go! relax and enjoy while waiting for your flight I would suggest to do lots and lots of walking before your long haul flight because once your’e in the plane haha you can’t do much! and oh! I would suggest to bring an Ipad or whatever device you have for your baby’s entertainment. Well there you go at least now if you have an idea what is going to happen at least you are well prepared and you have a vision of it we had a blast in our UAE trip our flight was smooth our baby were so blessed she slept on the entire flight she didn’t even cried at all this is the easiest stage for babies when traveling also I would recommend while take off and landing to let your baby suck on her pacifier or feed your baby therefore they will not pop their ears or else you will have crying baby.
below are the list of what I bought and brought well I hope you will have a very happy and memorable experience traveling international the first time with your baby. I hope you will have a safe flight! and take lots of pics!!!! memories are important enjoy!!! xo- Rizelle
please note that this is based only on my experience and that I want to share it to moms out there. Whatever worked for me might not work for you.
